Why RNA, and Why Now?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What payment methods can I use to donate?

You can donate securely through Zeffy, e-transfer, cheques/EFT, or PayPal. Zeffy is our preferred method because it is 100% free for charities, meaning every dollar goes to RNA Canada ARN.

2. Are there any fees when donating through Zeffy?

No. Zeffy is completely fee-free for charities—RNA Canada ARN receives 100% of your donation.

Because Zeffy operates by voluntary contributions rather than charging charities, donors will see two optional momentswhere Zeffy suggests adding a small amount to support their platform:

(1) At the donation summary page

Zeffy automatically adds a suggested contribution (usually a percentage).

  • You can click “Edit contribution”
  • Then select “Custom amount”
  • And enter $0

(2) At the final confirmation step

Zeffy may again display a contribution box.

  • Once again, you can enter $0
  • Your donation will still be processed, and RNA Canada ARN will receive the full amount

These contributions are never required. They help Zeffy stay free for charities, but setting them to $0 is completely acceptable.

If you prefer not to see these prompts at all, consider donating via cheque, EFT, or e-transfer, which are also fully fee-free.

3. Are there any fees when donating through PayPal?

Yes. PayPal charges a processing fee that is automatically deducted from your donation before RNA Canada ARN receives it. If you prefer that 100% of your gift goes to the organization, we recommend donating via Zeffy, cheque/EFT, or e-transfer.

4. Which donation method should I choose?

For maximum impact, we recommend:

  • Zeffy — best for most donors, no fees
  • Cheque, EFT, or e-transfer — ideal for large gifts or corporate donations

PayPal — convenient if you prefer this platform but includes fees

5. Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes. RNA Canada ARN is a registered Canadian charity, and all eligible donations receive an official tax receipt.

6. How long does receipting take?
  • Zeffy donations: Receipts are issued immediately by email.
  • Cheque, EFT, or e-transfer: Receipts are issued within 1–2 weeks.

PayPal donations: Receipts are issued automatically by PayPal and followed by a CRA-compliant charitable receipt from RNA Canada ARN.

7. Is my donation secure?

Yes. All transactions are processed through secure, encrypted systems. RNA Canada ARN does not store your credit card or banking information.

8. Can I set up a recurring donation?

Yes. Zeffy allows you to create monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring donations with automatic tax receipts.

9. Can I donate by e-Transfer?

Yes. Send e-transfers to donation@rnacanada.ca.
Please include your full name and email in the message box so we can send your receipt.

10. What’s the lowest-fee way to give a large gift?

The best methods for large gifts are:

  1. Cheque
  2. EFT / Direct Bank Transfer
  3. e-Transfer (if within bank limits)

These methods avoid credit card processing fees entirely.

11. Can I donate on behalf of a company or organization?

Yes. Corporate and institutional gifts are welcome. Please contact:
chair@rnacanada.ca for details and receipting requirements.

12. Can I direct my donation to a specific program or committee?

Yes. You may designate your gift to:

  • Training and micro-credential programs
  • High school and undergraduate outreach
  • RNA research funding
  • National strategy development
  • Committee-specific programs

13. Can I donate anonymously?

Absolutely. Simply select “anonymous donor” on Zeffy or email us at donation@rnacanada.ca with your preference.

14. Can I make a pledge and pay later?

Yes. You can pledge a donation now and spread payments over months or years.

15. Do you accept donations from outside Canada?

Yes. International donors may give through Zeffy or PayPal.
Please note:

  • We issue Canadian charitable tax receipts.
  • These may or may not be eligible in your home country (varies by jurisdiction).
16. Do you accept matching gifts from employers?

Yes. If your employer offers matching donations, we are happy to provide any required documentation. Contact donation@rnacanada.ca for assistance.

17. Can I make a gift in honour or in memory of someone?

Yes. You may dedicate your donation “in honour of” or “in memory of” an individual.
We can notify the family or honouree if you request it.

18. Do you accept gifts of securities, stocks, or mutual funds?

We can facilitate these donations upon request.

Yes. RNA Canada ARN follows strict privacy standards.
Your information is never sold, shared, or used for purposes outside receipting and donor stewardship.

22. Can I request a refund?

If a donation was made in error, please contact donation@rnacanada.ca within 30 days so we can assist you.

23. Can trainees donate?

Yes—any amount, even $1, is welcome. Your participation helps demonstrate community support.
