Awards & Grants: Dr. Nahum Sonenberg to receive honorary degree at U. of Lethbridge

RNA Canada ARN congratulates Dr. Nahum Sonenberg, Gilman Cheney Chair in Biochemistry at McGill University, who will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Lethbridge during their upcoming spring convocation.  
Dr. Sonenberg is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in the study of mRNA translation, translational control and related fields in RNA biology.  He has previously been recognized in 2008 with the Canada Gairdner International Award and in 2014 he was awarded the Wolf Prize in Medicine (Israel), two of the world’s top awards given to researchers studying the life sciences and medicine. He is also an Officer of the Order of Canada and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The University of Lethbridge is home to the Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute, one of Canada’s leading research institutes in the study of RNA, as well as RNA Alberta ARN.
