Monthly Education Series: Nanopore RNA sequencing: lab applications and career opportunities

Dear RNA Canada ARN members,
We hope you’ve have a great start to the academic year and that you were able to join us for the amazing RNA Canada ARN 2024 conference.
The RNA Canada ARN Education committee is starting a Monthly Topic Spotlight series.  This month’s video seminar will be Monday, October 21st from 4 pm to 6 om EDT.
It is entitled:  Nanopore RNA sequencing: lab applications and career opportunities.  A poster is attached
Our invited speakers will be:
Samer M. Hussein, Ph.D. (Associate Professor, Université Laval). Title: Long non-coding RNAs in development and disease (10 min talk)
Gabriel Khelifi (PhD student in Samer Hussein’s lab, Université Laval). Title: Investigating complex gene sequences using Nanopore long-read RNA sequencing (10 min talk)
Bastien Paré (Nanopore account executive, Oxford Nanopore Technologies). Title: Long-read sequencing, a versatile research tool, from Cégep to University (20 min talk, half on applications of nanopore sequencing for RNA research and half on his own career path from academia to industry)
