Michelle Scott Awarded RNA Society Award for Excellence in Inclusive Leadership

RNA Canada ARN would like to send its warmest congratulations to Dr. Michelle Scott (U. de Sherbrooke) for having been named the RNA Society’s 2025 award winner for Excellence in Inclusive Leadership.
Dr. Scott currently serves as the Chair of the Equity, Inclusion and Diversity committee for RNA Canada ARN.  Under her leadership, the committee has developed RNA Canada ARN’s EDI policy (en Français), its Guidelines for Conferences and Events (en Français) and its Guidelines for the incorporation of EDI principles in RNA Canada ARN committees (en Français)  She also helped coordinate EDI sessions at previous meetings of the Riboclub and most recently at RNA Canada ARN 2024.
From the RNA Society award description:  The RNA Society is excited to announce that Dr. Michelle Scott has been selected to receive the 2025 RNA Society Award for Excellence in Inclusive Leadership. Dr. Scott is Professor of Biochemistry and Functional Genomics at the Université de Sherbrooke, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and serves as Director of the university’s RNA Excellence Pole. Her research focuses on noncoding RNA function, including the expression and function of snoRNAs and miRNAs. Dr. Scott is a founding member of RNA Canada, a recently established society fostering RNA research and collaboration across Canada, and chairs the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee. Additionally, Dr. Scott has spearheaded workshops in Quebec to encourage high school girls to consider careers in STEM. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Scott on this well-deserved recognition for her exceptional contributions to the RNA community.
Dr. Scott is an exceptionally deserving recipient of this award and RNA Canada ARN is very proud to have her on our team.  Congratulations Michelle!
