Item #1: Perspectives on RNA: a panel discussion series

Perspectives on RNA: CRISPR and its applications
Wednesday, February 19th 3-4:40 pm EST/12 -1:30 pm PST
Featuring: Dr. Sarah Hedtrich (UBC) and Dr. Basil Hubbard (UofT), moderated by Dr. Tiffany Carlaw (UBC)

Item #2: The 2025 Virtual Career Panel Series

Dates:
Panel 1: How to get into industry
March 19, 2025, 12:30pm-2pm (EST) / 9:30am-11am (PST)
Panel 2: Starting a career in publishing
June 19, 2025, 12:30pm-2pm (EST) / 9:30am-11am (PST)
Panel 3: Building a start-up
November 20, 2025, 12:30pm-2pm (EST) / 9:30am-11am (PST)

Audience: Trainees interested in career development and opportunities outside of academia.
Delivery: Online with Q&A

Item #3: Technical Workshops.  Introduction to Python: Sequence-to-Function Analysis for RNA

Tentative dates:
Day 1: April 7, 2025, 12-4pm (EST) / 9am-1pm (PST)
Day 2: April 14, 2025, 12-4pm (EST) / 9am-1pm (PST)
Audience: RNA biologists yearning for a “gateway” to bioinformatics.
Pre-requisites: No formal training in bioinformatics is required. While it may be beneficial to have some exposure to basic programming concepts (variables, lists, strings, etc.) and familiarity with online bioinformatics tools, this is not necessary.
Delivery: Online (live demos, breakout rooms, practical exercises, Q&A)
