Annual General Meeting & Election of New Board Members
The RNA Canada ARN executive hosted this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on January 9th, 2025. The meeting featured a number of important updates for RNA Canada ARN members.
After some introductory remarks by the Chair of the Board, Dr. Howard Lipshitz, the AGM featured an address by RNA Canada ARN President Dr. Sherif Abou Elela, who updated the membership on a breadth of topics including our achievements in 2024 and our goals for 2025. His remarks are summarized in the President’s Report. Treasurer Dr. Nehal Thakor then provided an update on our financial situation, summarized in the 2024 Financial Summary.
The AGM also featured the election of four Board members: Drs. Timothy Audas (BC representative), Nehal Thakor (AB representative) and Thomas Duchaine & Amanda Hargrove (both Members at Large) were selected. Congratulations!
RNA Canada ARN continues to make strides for 2025. From Executive Committee Secretary Dr. Julie Claycomb: “We invite anyone who is interested to reach out and get involved-there are many committees that could benefit from additional members! There is still much work to do as we develop a national RNA strategy, cultivate relationships with different stakeholders, and advocate for increased funding for RNA research. Help us grow RNA Canada ARN in 2025!”
